It’s been a while since someone read me a bedtime story. Boy was I in luck late one evening last week when my hubby crawled into bed with a book he said he’d purchased online. He told me to snuggle in; he was going to read me a story. Was this the new foreplay? Of course I played along. We settled in and hubby read the title: Go the F**k to Sleep, by Adam Mansbach. My eyes popped out of my head, and not in the way I was anticipating! This was no ordinary fairytale and definitely not a book for children; again, not in the ways I was expecting. As he read I laughed so hard I thought I might wake Meebs. I managed to stifle my giggles so I wouldn’t have to nurse her the f**k back to sleep.

Of course I’d heard about the book, I mean, it’s not like I live under a rock; but I wasn’t aware it had finally been released or that the hubby had pre-purchased a copy. It was even better than what I’d heard about it. You need to have a sense of humour about the book, it’s not something you’d read to your child; but any parent who says they can’t relate, is f**king lying!

If you haven’t been able to snag a copy for yourself you can listen online. Narrated by the great Samuel L Jackson, he brings the poetry to life. Check it out, here, and let me know what you think!
